1993 Olds Old School Hot Rod / Custom

What we have here is a 1993 Olds Cutlass Ciera 3.3 V6, With 73,000 actual miles, I am butchering this nice car to make a daily driver out of it, I am going to reshape the front like an old car, Remove the Big Plastic Headlights and add some round ones like they had from the late 1930's to the 1970's, make or use an old car grill, On the back I will be making fins, Like a old Cadillac, or Plymouth I don't know yet, I will just start building them and they will let me know what they want to look like, ( I Like Fins ) I will be removing the huge plastic tail lights and do some reshaping and add some old car tail lights, It will be a satin black paint job with old school pinstriping, Noisy lake pipes, Reproduction 50s' Hubcaps with wide white walls, Just a modern Old School car that is dependable and I can drive every day, Summer, Winter, Park at Wal-Mart, Drive on a gravel road, Decent gas mileage, The main thing with this car is, I really don't want it to look like any kind of a production line car, I like it when people look my car over and say, What the Hell kind of car is that ??? Even if it comes out weird looking, Its still different ! This is a fun project and not to time consuming like building a complete car, Some people will really like it and some people will think I am a Mental Midget !!!, But I don't care what they think, I am have fun doing what I like to do and I am not hurting anybody by doing it, If you know me, You I have to be different, My motto is ( Take what ya got and make what ya want ! )

I took the Cutlass front end parts off, Then I cut trimmed and welded on the front head lights / fenders I Had left over from a 75 MG Midget .

Its a good thing the Old Lady that owned the car last week cant see it know !!!

Here you see that I have hand formed the sheet metal parts and have them welded on, Now its time for some hammer & dolly work followed by some body filler to smooth it all out.

* BELOW *
I am building a new rear panel, I am making the rear of the car rounded for a different look, And I have made it so it comes out farther than it did, I have made it so it covers 6" of the bumper cover, And I have bought a pair of 1954 Dodge Car taillights I will be installing and I also got an old car license plate mount that has a two big chrome lights on it, 1 one on each side of the license plate, This car will definitely be different !!!

I have painted the car, I used John Deer semi gloss black paint, It looks really cool now, I am now in the process of rewiring the head lights from the 4 original plastic head lights to the new 7" single halogen headlights and rewiring for the 1954 Dodge tail lights I am installing, After that I will need to build some kind of a grill and come up with some turn signal / parking lights for the front and wire them in, I also have some 1940 Chevy bumpers I plan on cutting down to fit and installing on the car, There is a lot more to do, But I am getting there.

BELOW, This is a piece of 1-1/2 Aluminum Electrical Conduit that I am making my grill bar from, I am using aluminum conduit so I will be able to polish it to a chrome like finish, As you can see, I have cut a pie shape out of the end and hammered the sides together making the end of the pipe come to a point.

Image:

BELOW, You can see I have Heliarc Welded the end back together and made a mounting bracket and have it welded on.

Image:

Below is the back side.

Image:

BELOW, You can see I have 1/2 of the pipe sanded and polished, I am using a buffer like you would buff the paint on your car with, Also I am using rubbing compound for car paint, After I am done doing this I will probably use some aluminum polish.

Image:

Below, The grill bar is ready to be installed in the car now, I will use some aluminum polish on it after it in mounted in the grill opening.

Image:

As you can see, I have the new sleepy eye head light visors on my car, I like em, It looks like the car is drunk or just woke up.

Image:

I built some lake pipes and have them on now, I also put a Cut Out Valve in the exhaust pipe, On the cut out valve installed a Linear Actuator Motor and put a switch on the dash, Now I can go from a quiet car to a loud annoying racer want a-B, With just a flick of the switch, Its a lot of fun but the Cops don't seem to like it ???, I am driving the car every day now and haven fun with it.
